Our service options

We offer two clear paths depending on the sit and the workload.

1) Standard House Sitting Services (Exchange Arrangement)

This is the traditional model: you provide accommodation and normal household running costs for the duration of the sit (unless agreed otherwise), and we provide live-in house and pet care.

Typically includes

  • Live-in presence and responsible home care
  • Pet routines maintained as agreed
  • Regular updates (with photos/videos if wanted)
  • Simple handover and wrap-up notes (keys, routines, reminders)

Best for

  • Homeowners travelling for weeks to months
  • One or two pets with straightforward routines
  • Homes that benefit from a steady presence and tidy standards

2) Premium / Paid Arrangements (Available)

Some sits require a higher level of responsibility, time, and complexity. In those cases, we offer premium/paid arrangements by agreement.

Often suitable for

  • Long-term assignments (extended travel, repeated trips)
  • Higher-responsibility households (multiple animals, complex routines)
  • Horses / equine care or stable/yard routines
  • Sanctuary-style or multi-species care
  • Owners who want structured reporting and a higher-touch approach

Premium arrangements may include

  • More frequent or structured updates (agreed rhythm)
  • Additional coordination (local contacts, vet details, maintenance access as needed)
  • Clearer reporting expectations (what we check, when, and how it’s tracked)
  • Higher-responsibility handling for animal-heavy or time-intensive routines

If you’re unsure whether your sit fits this category, just describe what you need — we’ll advise the best structure.

Higher-responsibility care (horses & complex routines)

Sits involving horses or larger numbers of animals can be significantly more time-intensive than a simple single-pet routine.

Where equine care is part of the sit, responsibilities often include:

  • Feeding/hay routines and stable access management
  • Rugs/blankets adjusted to weather conditions
  • Yard standards and daily checks
  • Hoof checks and basic care (as appropriate to the routine provided)

If your household includes horses, multiple animals, or specialist routines, we’ll confirm expectations clearly before committing — so the care is delivered properly and predictably.

Care standards (how we work)

Every sit is unique, but our standards are consistent.

Before the sit

  • Confirm routines, expectations, and what “good” looks like
  • Agree communication frequency and preferred channels
  • Establish key contacts and contingencies (vet details, authorised support, etc.)

During the sit

  • Follow routines closely (pets thrive on consistency)
  • Keep the home clean and orderly
  • Watch for early signs of issues and act sensibly
  • Communicate clearly without unnecessary noise

End of the sit

  • Clean reset (so you return to a calm home)
  • Handover notes if useful (pet behaviour, small issues, reminders)

Preparedness (calm handling when something unexpected happens)

We take preparedness seriously. We travel with a sensible pet-care kit for common issues and respond quickly when something unexpected happens.

For example, during a private sit one of the cats appeared to have been poisoned. We carried activated charcoal tablets as part of our kit and used them as an immediate stabilising step while taking appropriate next actions.

(This isn’t medical advice and doesn’t replace veterinary care — every situation is handled based on the owner’s instructions and professional support where needed.)

What we need from you (so everything runs smoothly)

To deliver excellent care, we’ll typically ask for:

  • A clear routine for pets (food, walks, meds if any)
  • Access details (keys, alarms, gates — kept private)
  • Local contact(s) for emergencies or authorised support
  • Vet details (where relevant)
  • Any known quirks or sensitivities (pets, property systems)

You can share this in your enquiry, then we confirm details on a short call.

Who will be on the sit

You’ll be cared for by Rob and Lindsey Hawkins, with Archie (19) travelling with us on every sit and supporting routines as part of a calm, responsible team approach — aligned with what the sit requires and what you’re comfortable with.

We keep this clear early so expectations are straightforward.

Boundaries (professional, clear)

We’re happy to support normal day-to-day responsibilities that keep a home running well. However, we don’t take on work that requires specialist licensing or heavy construction.

If your sit has unusual requirements, tell us early — we’ll confirm what’s feasible and what should be handled by authorised professionals.

Trust & verification

Because trust matters, we’re transparent about how verification works — especially for private arrangements.

  • Verified reviews are available via our TrustedHousesitters profile (linked on our Credentials page)
  • Testimonials and references are available once a sit is shortlisted
  • We protect homeowner privacy and never publish sensitive details

Frequently asked questions

🗓️ Duration🤝 Exchange💼 Premium/paid🐴 Higher responsibility🧰 Scope🔧 Boundaries

Do you only accept long-term sits?

Longer stays are our strongest fit, and we prioritise them. Shorter sits may be possible depending on timing, routines, and the overall requirements.

Do you do “near me” drop-in pet sitting services?

No. We focus on live-in house sitting services and pet sitting services rather than local drop-in visits.

Do you accept exchange sits?

Yes — selectively. Exchange arrangements can be a great fit for simpler routines. Where responsibility increases (especially horses or multi-animal care), premium/paid arrangements may be more appropriate.

What’s included in your standard (exchange) service?

A live-in presence, routine-first pet care, tidy home standards, basic checks, and agreed updates. We also agree handover details and a simple wrap-up so you return to a calm home and settled pets.

When does a sit become premium/paid?

Typically when workload, responsibility, or reporting expectations increase — for example:
1) horses / stable or yard routines
2) multiple animals with strict timing
3) medication or closer monitoring needs
4) sanctuary-style or multi-species care
5)structured reporting requirements

What does premium/paid usually include (beyond standard)?

Premium/paid sits are about service level and exclusivity. Expectations are clearer, reporting is more detailed, and updates can be more involved—such as regular video check-ins, edited clips, or structured daily/weekly summaries.
This option is often chosen when the sit is higher responsibility or when homeowners want dedicated, priority care for their home and animals.

How do we get started?

Send an enquiry with your dates, country/region, pets/animals, and care needs. If it looks like a fit, we’ll arrange a quick call/chat to confirm routines and expectations, then agree the handover and update rhythm.

Ready to discuss your sit?

If you have dates in mind, send a quick enquiry and we’ll respond with availability and a simple next-step process.
