We are Lindsey, Rob and Archie Hawkins – experienced house and animal sitters who bring calm routines, practical capability and genuine care to every suitable assignment.
International House Sitters is a personal service. Homeowners know who they are speaking with, who will be staying in their home and how the assignment will be handled.
We are particularly comfortable with longer stays, several animals, horses, rural properties and homes that benefit from a steady, responsible presence.

Why this way of working suits us
We have worked online and managed our own schedules for many years. That gives us the flexibility to organise each day around the home and animals rather than leaving for a conventional workplace.
For homeowners, this means a genuinely lived-in presence. Dogs are not left alone for unnecessarily long periods, routines can remain predictable and small household issues are more likely to be noticed early.
For us, house sitting combines the things we do well: caring for animals, adapting to different homes, maintaining routines, solving practical problems and building trusted relationships with homeowners around the world.
Meet Lindsey
Lindsey brings a calm, attentive approach to both animal care and the day-to-day standard of the home.
She is observant, organised and naturally focused on the small details that help animals feel secure: familiar timings, clean spaces, quiet companionship and noticing when behaviour or appetite changes.
Homeowners often value the thoughtful finishing touches Lindsey brings to an assignment—the things that make returning home feel easy rather than overwhelming.
- Calm, consistent animal routines
- Attentive household standards
- Clear and reassuring communication
- Experience with dogs, cats, horses and multi-animal homes
- A practical, considerate approach to longer stays
Meet Rob
Rob brings practical property awareness, methodical organisation and calm problem-solving.
His background in science, engineering and online business supports a structured approach to household systems, routines and unexpected practical issues. He is comfortable learning how a property works, following clear instructions and recognising when a problem should be handed to an authorised professional.
Working online also allows Rob to remain present in the home throughout much of the day, which can be especially valuable during longer assignments or with animals that prefer company.
- Practical home and property awareness
- Calm assessment of everyday issues
- Methodical routines and record-keeping
- Experience with rural properties, horses and multi-animal care
- Reliable remote-working presence
Meet Archie
Archie is an experienced house and animal sitter in his own right.
He has taken an active role in assignments involving dogs, cats, horses, poultry and other animals, and has developed the confidence to manage routines, observe behaviour and take responsibility for the home.
Archie now undertakes paid house-sitting assignments independently as well as joining Lindsey and Rob where a three-person team is the right fit.
- Confident daily animal care
- Practical support with feeding, walking and stable routines
- A calm and consistent presence
- Independent house-sitting experience
- Experience working as part of a reliable team
We do not assume that every assignment involves all three of us. The people attending a sit are always discussed and agreed clearly before confirmation.
How our strengths work together
Our strengths are complementary rather than identical.
- 🐾 Animal care: shared routines, observation, companionship and consistency.
- 🏡 Home stewardship: respectful use, cleanliness and practical awareness.
- 🔧 Problem-solving: calm assessment and sensible escalation.
- 💬 Communication: clear updates tailored to the homeowner.
- 🗓️ Long-stay continuity: dependable routines sustained over weeks or months.
A team approach can be especially useful for properties with several animals, horses or routines that need to continue even when one person is occupied elsewhere.
Experience built through real assignments
Our experience includes:
- Repeat multi-month care at a countryside property with horses, a dog, a cat and poultry
- Dogs, horses, fish, stable and tack-room routines at a country home
- Multi-dog and multi-cat family homes
- Reptiles including a gecko and a royal python
- Long private assignments in Egypt
- A completed multi-species assignment involving dogs, cats, tortoises and camels
- Independent paid house-sitting experience
Repeat bookings and extended assignments are particularly meaningful to us because they show that trust continued after the homeowner had experienced our work firsthand.

The values behind our work
Care
Animals are treated as individuals with familiar routines, preferences and personalities—not as a list of tasks.
Respect
We remember that we are living in someone else’s private home. Boundaries, possessions and household instructions matter.
Consistency
Reliable routines help animals settle and give homeowners confidence throughout a longer absence.
Discretion
We do not publish precise live locations, sensitive household information or private homeowner details.
Honesty
We accept assignments that suit our experience and availability. Where something requires a different skill, qualification or level of support, we say so clearly.
Could we be the right fit?
Tell us about your dates, location, animals and the normal rhythm of your home. We will respond honestly about availability and whether the assignment matches our experience.
